The Wool Pot is an eco-friendly, biodegradable planting solution designed to make gardening easier and more sustainable. Made from 100% natural wool, these pots reduce transplant shock by allowing roots to grow through the pot walls, so you can plant them directly into the ground without disturbing the roots. With excellent water retention, The Wool Pot helps keep your plants hydrated for longer, reducing the need for frequent watering. Ideal for growing small to medium-sized vegetable, herb, and flower seedlings, these pots offer a seamless and earth-friendly gardening experience.

Sold in convenient packs of three, The Wool Pot is the ideal choice for gardeners who care about their plants and the planet.

Because wool is an entirely natural organic product, when it makes contact with bacteria and fungi in the soil it completely breaks down, leaving no trace! As wool decomposes it releases essential nutrients back to the soil, like a slow release fertiliser. This is one of the reasons why sheep pellets (made from wool dags) are such a widely used plant fertiliser. These nutrients include nitrogen, sulphur, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and calcium, all of which are essential for healthy plant growth.

Wool is a truly natural, renewable and sustainable fibre, being able to completely break down and return to the Earth – unlike synthetic fibres that are extremely slow to degrade and contribute significantly to microplastic pollution and over flowing landfills. Quite simply, as long as there is grass to eat, sheep will continue to produce wool, and when it returns to the earth it will completely break down, releasing nutrients and completing the cycle. It doesn’t get more sustainable, renewable or natural than that.

FAQs

Can I plant The Wool Pot directly into the soil?

Yes! The Wool Pot is designed to be planted directly into the ground. Its natural wool fibers allow roots to grow through the pot walls, reducing transplant shock and eliminating the need to remove the plant before planting.

How long does The Wool Pot take to break down in the soil?

The Wool Pot begins to biodegrade naturally within a few months once planted. Exact breakdown time depends on soil conditions, moisture, and microbial activity, but it enriches the soil as it decomposes.

Do I need to water my plants as often when using The Wool Pot?

Not as frequently. Wool retains moisture exceptionally well, helping to keep your plants hydrated for longer periods—especially useful in hot or dry conditions.

What types of plants are best suited for The Wool Pot?

The Wool Pot is ideal for vegetables, herbs, and flower seedlings. The small size suits plants like basil, lettuce, or pansies, while the medium size works well for tomatoes, beans, or sunflowers. The Wool Pot can be also used for native tree seeds!

Where does the wool come from?

We source most of our wool from New Zealand, supporting local farmers and ensuring a high-quality natural material. The rest is sourced from around the world, supporting a variety of wool growers.

Is the wool treated with any chemicals?

No. The Wool Pot is made from 100% natural wool with no synthetic additives or chemical treatments, making it completely safe for your plants and the environment.

What are wool pots used for?

Wool pots are biodegradable gardening containers perfect for seedlings, vegetables, herbs, and flowers. They can be planted directly into the soil, minimizing transplant shock, watering, root bounding and providing a natural source of over 6x types of fertilizers found in wool.

Where do you deliver to?

Currently, we ship only within New Zealand. However, we are working towards expanding our reach globally in the near future.

What is your returns policy?

We offer exchanges at the customer's cost but do not provide refunds for change of mind. This policy helps us reduce waste and manage resources responsibly.

What inspired the creation of these products?
