For the love of wool.

With Nadia living on a sheep farm, Royalburn Station, and Polly being involved in the wool industry her whole life as well as managing her business, Exquisite Wool Traders, they combined their shared passion for wool and sustainability to create innovative products that showcase the incredible versatility and value of this natural fiber.

In 2021, driven by their passion for wool, saw an opportunity to bring more value to this incredible natural resource. Wool is a versatile, sustainable material, and they wanted to showcase its potential in everyday products. Their journey began with The Wool Pot—a 100% biodegradable planting solution designed for eco-conscious gardeners.

At the same time, they noticed the need for an alternative to synthetic, short-lived bags. Determined to create a durable, long-lasting, and sustainable option, they began developing The Wool Bag. After years of design and testing, The Wool Bag launched in 2024 and sold out almost instantly.

Realising that so many of us have become so reliant on using plastic in our everyday garden life, we realised The Wool Pot could be a solution to help reduce single use plastic in the gardening industry. In New Zealand alone, over 350 million plants in plastic pots are produced a year. Just imagine if all of that was replaced with something that not only completely decomposed naturally, but actually provided benefits to the plants and soil. And so the wool pot was born.

We tested The Wool Pot in our own gardens, commercial market garden and plant nursery and were amazed at how it broke down in the soil, leaving no trace – just lots of happy plants and worms! The Wool Pot will form a bubble of life around your plant when buried, your plants will love being surrounded by the wonderful properties of wool, just like nature intended.

We saw the need for a better alternative to synthetic, short-lived bags, we set out to design something truly practical and built to last. Over the course of a year, we worked closely with a textile doctor from Lincoln to create The Wool Bag—a bag that embodies simplicity, durability, and sustainability.

Made from anti-pilling wool, it’s designed to withstand the demands of daily life while maintaining its timeless style. The water-resistant lining ensures it’s ready for any spills, making it perfect for groceries, errands, or even a day out. No frills, just a reliable, beautifully crafted bag that’s as hardworking as you are.

As long as sheep have grass to eat, water and sun, wool will keep growing and giving back to our planet, it truly is one of nature’s most sustainable, environmentally-friendly wonder fibres.

FAQs

Where do the products get sent from?

All our products are sent from our warehouse in Darfield, New Zealand, and are sent using NZ Post as our courier company.

How long does it take to get my order?

We use the Overnight Courier service for our parcels, so it should take one business day to get to you.

Where are the products made?

Our felting + dying process is done in a Woolmark certified mill in India. This is because New Zealand doesn't have the manufacturing capability that we use to make our products. The Wool Bag is made from at 100% pure wool, with at least 50% of this being New Zealand wool, which is the perfect amount to make our bags resistant to pilling.
